Interesting article about natural gas extraction out of shale and how it will change global geopolitics.

Thermodynamic Beauty
Hi all,
Here you will find a link to a very interesting article by Spanish architect Inaki Abalos. Unluckily I cannot find an English version of it and in the web page is only available in French and Spanish. I do not know how good your Spanish is but it definitely deserves giving it a try.
Best,
M

Satire
http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/176354/july-21-2008/better-know-a-lobby---the-environmental-lobby
Like Bjarke was saying during our pinup, the environmental movement needs to mediate people's unsustainable lifestyles and peculiar desires when promoting their agenda. When Colbert uses hair spray in front of the Sierra Club director, he is making a point about when this movement falls short, and yet it brings out of him the most important point: it's all about ecological footprint. Even if you flew over here, at least you recycle.

All Climate Zones
Here is the overall Climate Zones Map and all of the climate icons.
Here is the map and cities of the Continental Zone. I haven't finished the vernacular architecture examples/analysis because those radar graphs took so damn long.

Climate Zone Groupings
Here are the 5 categories that we discussed towards the end of class today. I looked back through the zone descriptions and they seem to make sense.
Was anything else decided after I ran off to class? How should we reconfigure who is working on which zones? Sign-up list in studio 2 or 3 people per group?
1. Desert/Steppe/Tropical Savannah
2. Polar/Subarctic/Alpine
3. Humid/Subtropical/Equatorial
4. Oceanic/Mediterranean
5. Continental

Rudofsky is alive!
Hey guys,
Here attached you will find some Rudofsky images I collected last semester. I also included some quotes that clearly expresses what Rudofsky expected from this exhibition. In the library you can find a couple of copies of the catalog including the first edition.
Enjoy!
(apparently we can't attach non-image files so I have created a drop.io, which is a small free online server and uploaded the file there; feel free to use it for other contents)
